Status report :-

NOTHING done this week, despite at least one evening with oppurtunity.
Friday-Sunday evening am away fighting the darkness.

As Elanlane/Rob would put it "Could do better..."

Spike.

"Stalled".
Nose-dive avoided, but alterations to the front end trim were necessary, whereupon we seem to have entered either the Bermuda Triangle or the Twilight Zone.
As soon as the cloud of viking-land volcanic ash has cleared up there should hopefully be renewed and improved visibility - but this may well be after the finishing date. Watch this board for arrival announcements...

Not much progress, I´m afraid.
I thought that the fulmar-like hooked end to the beak looked good, but it was inaccurate, so had to go.

Got a little bit of "underpainting" done - structure I want to show through the final layers of paint.

Looking forward now to tedious brush-work now to "fluff" some bits up, lots and lots and lots of tiny strokes in varying tones. It´ll be done a bit at a time. Head will be most fun, starting there might re-instore some impetus.

Not forgetting some pearlescent/interference shimmer.

Not aiming for an exact likeness, but this beach-combing find will provide references :

Hi Spike
I really love this kit! you just have to get it finished mate! have you concidered using an airbrush? you know new tecniques and all that might just get the artistic juices flowing , but spike , think of the end result this is going to look really good when finished! are you planning on going to the Gravesham show! theres a target to aim for!
Cheers: Gerry

Funny, I just used an airbrush for the first time the other night, Gerry. Great fun, lots to learn! But the sculpting on this Pteranodon doesn´t seemed suited to a beginner ignorant of airbrush techniques. I´ll ´ave to hair-brush it.
Seeing as you like the model, I´ll try for Gravesend, but am fully booked with other commitments until the end of September...

Being pretty isolated where I live I´m going to have to teach myself with the airbrush - learning by doing - and will have a bash on some more co-operative and forgiving Dinosaurs.

Spike.
